My career as an environmental officer often led me into the heart of nature, where I faced not just environmental hazards but also the relentless assault of insects. From ticks lurking in tall grass to clouds of black flies and mosquitoes swarming around me, my fieldwork was constantly challenged by these tiny but persistent foes.

The standard protective gear available at the time – simple mosquito jackets from outdoor retailers – proved inadequate for my needs. While these suits offered some protection, they were far from perfect. Insects could still find their way through the mesh, and the delicate fabric tore easily when moving through dense brush or forest undergrowth.

One particularly frustrating day in the field became the catalyst for my invention. I was attempting to photograph evidence of environmental contamination near a riverbank, but the mesh visor of the protective suit was interfering with the camera’s focus.
